will be run 2 times per year. Winners receive the following awards:
10 Grand Prize Winner: One Olympus Digital
Camera ($200), and $300 in Tool Factory Software!
10 Second Place Prizes: $200 in Tool Factory
Software.
Print a flyer and distribute
to your staff!
It's easy to enter!
Simply tell us a about your special students or inclusive classroom.
We want to hear your story. Then visit Tool Factory's website
and select any software
found on Tool Factory's website. You can even use the Special
Education Product Finder to locate just the right software
for your project.
For example, tell us how you might combine Sound
Beginnings with photos to reach a non-vocal students who can
only make an utterance; or describe how Tool
Factory Word Processor will be used by deaf children to make
visually interesting stories; or use the grant to train your underachievers
to build websites, then turn them into the leaders responsible
for training your mainstream students on digital imaging! In your
application, give us the full story of how you'd use an Olympus
digital camera and Tool
Factory software together to make a difference in the educational
success of your special students.
Successful entries will:
- Tell us what you'll do with each and every product identified
in the project description.
- Tell us a story. We want to know why your students are special!
- Use your creativity. Imaginative ideas that really engage
students will win. Make the judges wish they were part of your
project!
The best applications will make effective use of every product
named in the application. All subject areas and disabilities will
be equally considered.
Grants will be judged based on:
- Effective use of all identified resources.
- Great story element.
- High degree of student involvement. We are looking for projects
which provide students new opportunities to learn, create, and
even become leaders.
- Likelihood of making a difference in the lives of the participants.
Deadlines:
Each winner will receive an Olympus digital camera, $300 in Tool
Factory software, plus an Educators Guide to Digital Photography!
K-12 special educators, special education schools, and medical
centers recommending intervention are eligible to apply. Projects
which involve only on a single student are less likely to win.
The judges prefer projects which involve a whole class or group
of students inclusively. We encourage interaction between any
populations of special education students and mainstream students.
Applications are accepted from schools and centers in the US,
its territories, and Canada. Parents are unfortunately not eligible
to apply for their children, and adult education programs are
not supported by this grant.
