Contents Tool Factory Workshop Step 3 – Enter Data
Grade: K-12
Required products: Tool Factory Database V2
Instructions
Entering data is the third step in the database building process. However, the “Enter Data” step can also be useful in isolation, when teaching students to collect data or conduct research. By providing students with a pre-built empty database, students can go straight to step 3 and start entering data. Information can be gathered from the internet, found in the library, or collected during live experiments and surveys. Tool Factory Database can accept pictures, video, sound files, and text. A whole library of clip art is readily available in the bank.

*TIP* Save the project immediately after clicking the ENTER DATA icon. This gives the computer a place to store the information as it is entered. If a project is not saved prior to entering data, every piece of data is held temporarily in the computer’s RAM. Many older computers have very little RAM and the computer is more vulnerable to crashes when the RAM fills up. Frequent saves are always recommended!
