Contents Tool Factory Workshop Step 4 – Browse Records
Grade: K-12
Required products: Tool Factory Database V2
Instructions
Browse records is the mode used to analyze and review data that is already stored in a database. Simply click the BROWSE RECORDS icon to enter this mode at any time.

Depending on your teaching objective, it may be beneficial to eliminate the user's ability to change fields and enter data.

LOOK AT A DATABASE ONLY (no editing)
1) Boot Tool Factory Database by clicking the desktop icon.
2) Select “Look at a Database”.
3) Select a database from the list on the left. If it’s not showing, click the folder icon and browse to open it.
4) Click “Open”.

Selecting “Look at a Database” from the opening menu allows for searching and browsing a database, but users will not be able to add new fields, add new data, or make any changes to existing data. This limited mode is very useful when the assignment is to analyze data only. Notice the icons for field creation, layout, and data entry are ghosted.
