Text frames are another interesting feature included in Tool Factory Word Processor. This feature produces columns like those in a newspaper. Because they look like newspaper columns, it is a great classroom idea to have your students use this feature in order to produce their own newspaper.

Step 1 - There are two ways two insert Text Frames into your Tool Factory Word Processor document. First, you can go to Other on the Menu bar and then click on Text Frame on the drop down menu. The second way is to press F7 on the keyboard.

Step 2 - Either way you choose, your cursor will turn into a crosshairs. Left click, hold, and drag to draw your text frame. When you release the mouse button your text frame will be complete.

Step 3 - The text frame can be moved the same way normal text is moved.

Step 4 - Once you have the text frame where you want it, you can lock it in place by going to Tools on the Menu bar and clicking the Lock to Page option.

How to Make a Newspaper Column
Step 1 - Create two text frames side by side.

Step 2 - Select both text frames.

Step 3 - Click Other on the Menu bar and then click Add Flow/flow text. Alternately, you can press CTRL+W after you select both text frames.

Once this is done the text will flow over to the next frame when you get to the end of the first one. A newspaper is a unique project that is guaranteed to keep students engaged in what they are learning.
