Contents Tool Factory Workshop Deluxe Working with Layers – Front to Back
Grade: K-12
Required products: Tool Factory Word Processor V2
Instructions
Every single item in a project, automatically becomes a new layer. The user never has to think about it. The program will automatically create new layers as each object is entered onto a page. It’s possible to switch the order of these layers to achieve a meaningful story scene or attractive photo montage.

Open a project and put pictures and text on the screen. Make sure pictures and text overlap.

REVERSING LAYERS
1) Double-click the item in the background. It gets a red box around it.
2) Click, click, click the right arrow in the toolbar, until the FORWARD and BACK icons appear.
3) Click the FORWARD icon repeatedly until the object moves to the top. Each click moves an object forward one layer at a time. Depending on how many pictures and text boxes are in the project, it may be necessary to click, click, click…many times.

The same process works when moving an object to the back. Just hi-light the object and click, click, click… the BACK icon until it moves to the back.

For stories - This is a great tool for creating sequential story scenes. A scene can be placed in the background with a tree and a character. Use the FORWARD and BACK icons to put the character on top of the scene, but behind the tree.

For greeting cards – Use layers to create an over-lapping photo montage.

For scrapbooks – Put splash captions across photos.
