Required products: Tool Factory Word Processor V2
Any text, picture, video, or audio button can be locked to the page. Locking down objects keeps them from being moved or deleted by the user.
CHANGING FONT AND LINE COLOR
1) Double click any object on the page (text, video, picture, or sound). It gets a red box around it.
2) Click the EFFECTS icon in the tool bar. It looks like a magic wand (right mouse click on the hi-lighted text box also brings up the Effects window).
3) Click the “General” tab at the top of the Effects window.
4) Click the padlock.
5) Select APPLY.
6) Click the “X” to close the Effects window.
Once an object is locked down, the student will no longer be able to move or change the object.
This is useful when creating “Matching” projects, where the student’s task is to draw lines from pictures to text. Add pictures on one side of the page, and scramble the words on the other side. Lock down the pictures and text, and FILE > SAVE. When the students open the project, they will be able to draw lines to match the pictures to the associated text, but they won’t be able to delete or move any items except for what they’ve added.
*Tip* In practice, educators find this feature most useful for locking down pictures. We don't recommend locking text if the educational objective is for the student to add more text to the document.
