Students research, draft, and revise a feature article for their school newspaper.
1) Open "School Newspaper Background Research Notes" and have students save it as their own worksheet. 2) Students use this sheet to record the bibliographical information about their sources, take notes that will help them to later write their feature article, and copy direct quotes from the cited source. 3) Students may print out multiple copies of this worksheet depending on how many sources they will use. 4) Open " School Newspaper Reporter Notes" and direct students to save it as their own worksheet. 5) Students use this worksheet to record information from interviews conducted in preparation for writing the feature article. 6) Again, multiple copies of this worksheet may be printed out. 7) Students open the "School Newspaper Feature Article Template" worksheet and save it as their own. 8) By clicking on each object, such as a photo or headline, the student may highlight and then delete the objects that they will replace with their own. 9) Remind students to save their work often, and print out if necessary.
Turn students into reporters. Give them a digital camera, and let them shoot news photographs.
