East Dorset, VT, September
4, 2001- The Vermont-based educational software company Tool Factory,
Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of MultiMedia Lab, an
innovative software family geared for K-12 learning. Multimedia Lab
V and its younger counterpart Junior Multimedia Lab are top-selling
products in Scandinavia, where over 55,000 licenses have made them the
most widely-used multimedia titles in the region. The software is already
showing promise of the same success here in North America. Tool Factory
has American-ized the software, and tested it in local classrooms. After
only 10 minutes of classroom demonstration, kids were eager to dive
into the programs, get their hands on the fun multimedia features, and
begin building a whole variety of exciting projects.
Junior
Multimedia Lab
Kids as young as seven are
building stunning projects, button presentations, slide shows, and creative
stories with Junior
Multimedia Lab. The drag-and-drop simplicity of the program
lets students add pictures, animate characters, and link buttons with
ease. Hundreds of clip art files in The Gallery and scores of templates
help kids get started with unique, sophisticated projects. The colorful
interface is a cinch to use, and lets you see thumbnails of each page
down the left-hand side of the screen. Assemble a linked presentation
by clicking together graphics, pictures, and sound effects. Graphics
become buttons when you select the flash in the lower right hand corner.
A simple mouse click can show an image, play a sound, play a video,
or perform a whole array of other events.

|
Change the properties of
each page, play with background colors, add videos, even include a digital
image from your hard drive! Then click the play button and see what
you've created. With Junior Multimedia Lab, students take a real
interest in presenting newly acquired knowledge to their class. Children
who have difficulty speaking in front of an audience will love recording
their own narration right into presentations and sharing their projects
with pride. As students master this version of the program, they can
graduate to the more advanced version, Multimedia Lab V.

Multimedia
Lab V
Like the Junior version,
Multimedia
Lab V is structured with drag-and-drop simplicity, and includes
a wealth of clip art files and more templates to help students and teachers
build all kinds of projects, slide shows, and button presentations.
This version, however, has many added features for the more advanced
user. Students become web-masters with Multimedia Lab V, as they
build incredible web pages without writing a single line of code or
wading through a time-consuming player download. Web pages and projects
of all kinds can be created with animation controls for sprites and
paths, tons of paint and stamp tools, buttons of all sizes and shapes,
special objects and effects, transparency controls, opacity, and more.
You can add your own digital or scanned images to presentations, or
draw and edit directly in the program. There's even support for JavaScript,
MPEG, MP3, Flash, and animated GIFs.

|
Multimedia Lab V includes
magazine and newspaper templates that are great for school publications,
and teachers will love organizing their schedules and calendars with
templates that are available at the click of the mouse. In addition
to the variety of built-in applications, anyone can easily create their
own application and save it as a template for later use.
