Sunderland, VT, September 11, 2007 – Tool Factory software titles Tool Factory Keyboarding Adventure, and Letter Olympics have won Association of Library Service to Children (ALSC) notable software awards for 2007.  The ALSC works to improve and extend library services to children from preschool through the eighth grade, in all types of libraries. They are responsible for the evaluation and selection of book and non-book library materials. Their annual “Notable List” recommends exemplary books, videos, recordings and computer software for children.  Link to ALSC’s listing and read about the 2 winning titles from Tool Factory: 2007 Notable Computer Software Awards.

Tool Factory Keyboarding Adventure is an adaptive keyboarding program used worldwide.  Visit the Australian Outback and adventure with Kewala, your keyboarding guide.  Using animated and engaging graphics, students learn to touch-type and also improve their reading skills as they follow the story line with Kewala. Administrative features allow teachers to track each individual student’s progress for every keystroke.  Teachers can even import their own text and build tailored courses, so students are learning to type using the same curriculum taught in the classroom!  Tool Factory Keyboarding Adventure makes learning to type fun!

Letter Olympics uses Olympic sporting events to distinguish the difference between the lower case letters “b” and “d”.  With both auditory and visual activities, Letter Olympics captures student’s attention with an exciting Olympic sporting theme. This inclusive tool automatically tracks individual student progress,  with printable reports for IEP’s. It’s great for students with Dyslexia, and also folds easily into the mainstream language arts curriculum. The program also includes clip art files and printable PDF worksheets for additional support outside of the computer!
